This dude is acting like he just unlocked the hidden lore of pregnancy, as if the concept of morning sickness and childbirth being hard is some profound revelation. The way he’s freaking out, you’d think he was the one about to pop out a kid. "I could never handle that...!!" No kidding, bro, you physically can't. That’s not some deep self-awareness, that’s just biology.

Then he starts talking about "the burden on you" like he’s a philosopher contemplating the weight of existence. If he’s this shook just thinking about it, imagine how useless he'd be in an actual crisis. This whole scene is trying way too hard to be dramatic over something that's, like, basic human knowledge.

Prenatal anxiety is a real thing and 1 in 10 men suffer from it

Actual parental anxiety is when you stress over raising a child, providing for them, or fearing for their future. This guy, on the other hand, is acting like he just learned pregnancy exists and is having an existential meltdown over it. He’s not worried about being a good father—he’s panicking over basic biological functions like morning sickness and cramps, as if women haven’t been dealing with them since the dawn of time.

It’s like watching someone say, "Wait, you mean breathing is something you do all the time?! I could NEVER handle that!!" Sure, it's an attempt at empathy, but it comes across as hilariously over-the-top and detached from reality.

It comes off like someone is an incel or a fedora gentleman who is so freaking desperate for female attention that they need to bend backwards to get it.
Instead of thinking that it will be hard you just create environment that is low strain low stress. As a man you have a duty to safeguard her during that critical moment and be as confident as you can to give peace to her. Stress can impact the fetus.

So authors fedora gentlemans take is actually worse than if he were ignorant.
