From what it seems, Carp put all her points into book smarts, and not a single one into adaptive learning, self preservation, or pattern recognition. A real textbook example of a know-it-all who has learned everything they know either through books and tutoring, or by some method which they do not like thinking about / remembering.

In other words, Carp is probably trying to distance herself from her old witch ways as much as she possibly can. And because of this, she is forcing herself to always reinforce the narrative of her current self as much and as often as she possibly can, even when under threat of the Queen's anger.


tl;dr Carp is probably deeply traumatized, ashamed and/or embarrassed by her witch past and is now actively trying to bury it under her current self by overstating to everyone how they should see/treat her as.

She obviously informed him they were going to marry and have kids..

And admit it...she's hot as hell... so ... might as well instead of a carefully selected spouse from the usual politicking and backstabbing families... and... well y'know... she's hot!!

The fun bit here is that when it comes to fish, it's actually the females who generally are Bigger, Badder, and Calling the Shots.
So it's not that crazy to have the King be not much more than a "but dear..... maybe... sorry, sorry... we'll do it your way.." yes-man.

I think what most people noticed this chapter is that the king was holding her back the entire time. Just a simple gesture is enough to bring her back to her senses, that's why people were amazed at the amount of power he has to keep the queen in check. It was never about fish in real life...

kind of crazy that the mermaid kingdom is sending their most dangerous fugitives there and are now opening a school, a very interesting choice. also the queen forcing platy has nothing to do with mc, and it's his land. the mermaid royalty are already imposing on him so that's pretty ballsy to try and force him to allow them to open a school.

Technically, as you said the queen's request has nothing to do with mc. Platy was forced to say yes but queen could do nothing if MC is still strongly against the campus.

I do, mildly. This is purely based on her clear dissatisfaction of MC saying no seperating. Well, that and Zoth's comment on how Carp planned to make the campus her playground. That could come from other things as well. Maybe she just doesn't like having to do more work than she initially thought. Maybe the new campus idea was just a front in her eyes so she could continue teaching Angel and eventually have her be a graduate of the oh so prestigious school. I'm sure future chapters will show what her true intentions are.



On another note, since MC is willing to have a school on his lands, thinking about his child's and any future children's education, he'll likely need teachers for that. Don't we already know a certain sensei that would be perfect for the role?

Adding to the conversation, not solely replying to you: Her supremacy attitude was implied, but it doesnt seem to be the cartoonishly evil kind of fascism/racism. More like it's the system she's most familiar with (the mermaid kingdom seems to be relatively unicultural) and has worked well so far.

An irl comparison would be a european colonizer bringing over their own school system to places they colonize, instead of adopting local school systems which may or may not even exist.
