I think is more accurate to say it's mixture of both, on one hand dealing with the death of (what for the sake of the argument I will treat as) a father figure and on the other hand keeping the restaurant afloat, heck we can even say she will have to live up to pops legacy

How he has such a bizarre policy of, 'pay what you can, that means if you're rich pay through the nose and if you're poor pay nothing', or put up the demon lord himself. Certainly these were always policies he had, but now he has literally nothing to lose.
