Rather than sloppy police, I'm mad at MC for being sloppy about his "friend". It's the same story as always with the MC letting problems fester for absolutely no reason.

Do you remember how long it has been since he was teleported back to Earth? This series is extremely jam-packed with events, to the point that an entire volume can go by within a single day. So the problem you're talking about doesn't even have enough time to fester yet.

His name and role has changed significantly over the centuries as people combined stuff and tacked on things.
