There's only so far you can stretch things for the sake of plot convenience. What reasonable person says, "I was knocked out and my memory was altered without my consent, but I'm ok with that and still fully trust that doctor I know nothing about?"

O . o?
But he doesn't know she was the one who erased his memories, only that he passed out and doesn't remember much of the interview. I mean sure there is something to be said about it happening, but there are supernatural factors that also need considered.

Just as far as you can stretch a Japanese man refusing to have sex with a consenting woman when there's mutual attraction. So, stretched to infinity and beyond.

Fully trust maybe a stretch, it can be curiosity.
What happened was similar to, man met girl, went to hotel, woke up and saw the girl gone with everything still intact. The next day, her friend come to the man and apologize for her.
With no harm done and a somewhat 'proper' closure, naturally a man will feel no remorse, but inclined to meet again to clear things up.

Or just about plot if the author wants it enough. See: Ranma½.
Ranma have lotsa underage character, it is not the same.

He may not have a job but he has a blonde big tittied elf who's in love with him and who cuddles with him in bed.

Plus the red haired tsundere elf.

Plus the yandere Sadako-esque sister.

He's a winner in life. I'm so jealous!!!

I'd honestly feel so violated and just traumatized knowing that someone even can alter my memories like that. For all he knows far more and far worse could've happened other than just forgetting someone's face. You went to just answer some questions and ended up knocked out and with altered memories. There's literally nothing that could be done after to rebuild trust if that were me and I'd be so jaded just knowing that the other party would be willing to and could do that. For all I'd know I'd have been ****d or worse. It'd be like going to the doctor in the real world for a checkup or consultation and getting roofied.
