Seems like he doesn't know about guano. His basic education wasn't too thorough. But then again, I don't have a super good impression of Japanese schools anyway.

Oh, so this kid is actually specifically knowledgeable regarding farming? When was that established? Choosing to farm to create a sustainable food source makes sense, but now he's suddenly coming out with specifics, like that bit about Clovers.

So he doesn't have the slightest knowledge of how to utilize a bow, but he has in-depth knowledge on how to make functional slings?

"I will throw the first stone."
Vaguely reminded of something from the Bible...

@bushwhacker2k You know as much as the MC (so far) about the basic stuff just by going through the elementary, middle, and high school, under any decent education system. Actually you'd know even more, like the guano I mentioned. Before synthetic fertilisers were introduced, guano was a big business. It was covered in history lessons where I live, probably during the high school.

You don't need much knowledge for making slings. Basically you only need to know what they are and have seen some pictures or a video. Looking at how he was able to use the sling immediately, I'd assume he must have used one already back in his own world, maybe as a kid messing around.

@Kaarme He specifically said he had experience raising goats and learning about some concepts in relationship to farming doesn't mean you can actually effectively implement them.

That would be my guess too.

@bushwhacker2k He at least needs to pretend like he knows what he's talking about and give a reassuring feeling to the kids. Even if his knowledge was all theory. The kids have nothing and nobody else to depend on, and the external supply of food will stop in three years. It's more important the kids can live feeling as safe and secure as possible, even if some of his ideas didn't end up working in the end. If they were all adults, things would be a bit different, but since it's a bunch of kids mostly without special skills, this is the best way in my opinion.

@botodopo It's an acquired taste. There isn't a large market for goat in the developed world so no factory farming. Most goats are grassfed and their products have an earthy quality. Also goat milk has a higher fat content which gives it a much stronger flavor.

Looks like MC doesn't know his basic agricultural knowledge because if he did, he would know not to rotate wheat into the field for barley because they both fall under the same gramineas family, and by planting them into the same field, each year they grow more susceptible to soil based diseases. Clovers are okay because they are trifolieae, which is a separate family from gramineas meaning they aren't as susceptible to diseases the other would face. Gotta step it up MC.

How does the MC find the idea of birds that eat meat weird and isn't the bird part of gryphons typically based on eagles?
Both species are carnivores, so if anything it's odd that a lion + eagle is omnivorous rather than carnivorous.

"Weird to see a bird eating meat." Wut?

Now, is that some weird character trait or did the author have a lapse in common sense?

Eagles eat animals plenty author what are you doing

2nd time this month a manga acted like birds don't eat what they eat, forget what the first one was but it was talking about cannibalism even though birds eating other birds is also common enough.

What do you mean it's strange to see a bird eating meat? Eagle (smaller birds & land animals), condor (carcasses), seagull (omnivour but also eats human food), pelican (fish). This guy is pure... ah well, he's still just 20yo.

Anyway Rosewood does look like a noble's son. Ex-noble that is (& the girl who knows about the state affairs, she might be a princess). The way the adult treats him makes me think this world is also just as dirty as ours. Kidnapping, child trafficking, slavery & so on. & I think it's inevitable to assume that the people who abandoned the children are actually sacrificing them to the Griffin for the sake of the country's peace or something. The Griffin doesn't even eat human flesh.

I remember crop rotation from high school but hell no do I remember anything about it beyond "haha four plots go brrrr". In fact, I only remembered clovers because of one of the above comments. Guano? Didn't even know that was a thing until the Dr Stone anime came around.

I swear MC protagonists really should be reincarnating 70 y/o grandpas instead of salarymen and shut-ins if they wish to bring this level of worldly trivia knowlege to their Narou fanfic. Make up a magic-based reason as to how reincarnation removes the senile debuff, and you're done.
