Shuri always refer to herself using her own name (third-person pronoun?) with a manner of speech that shows her self-centered and immature nature. That's why I keep her calling herself Shuri and not 'I' or 'me'.

Another thing to note is I still can't decide when to use 'magic' or 'spell' since in the Japanese text it always says 魔法(mahou). We will probably decide how to deal with it by next chapter.

Given this panels , their conversation after, the fact that memory manipulation spell exists and how the demon kin stepped in just as that moment, it’s probably what happened to her.

Anyway hero need to get his ass beaten up somewhere down the lines, given what happened I understand the hatred but it’s not like he didn’t saw what Haruna did, at least he should try to have a proper conversation. From the reaction of everyone it’s not hard to imagine why Shuri got manipulated so easily, she probably try to help, get beaten up by the humans because th prejudices and then the demonkin swoop in to brainwashed her. I hope Ruka is not brainwashed too but it’s probably not the case.

Also my tinfoil hat theory is that the one who the Hero saw back then is Haruna predecessor given the silhouette kinda matching what we saw on the first chapter.

This theory is founded on almost nothing, but I think that the inhabitants of this world are probably connected to magical beasts in the magical girls world. For example, what if the people from this world turn into magical beasts when they get transferred into the other world.

That could explain why magical girls are so willing to genocide these people. Maybe they think that if they kill everyone in this world, they could save people they actually care about in their own world.
