Not sure what is the drama behind the story development. But from novelupdates tracker and checking around, it looks the the story is axed and the author already moved on to another project

What happened was the publisher treated the author poorly, then delayed the release of volume 9 for over a year. The author lost motivation to write the story. He left his publisher and never got a new one for this light novel. He abandoned it for a new story.
