Nothing wrong with hugging the MC in gratitude. It's not like he minds.

Also nothing wrong with adding that extra "extra" bit in the translation. It's a translation, not a transcription. If you think it appropriately conveys the story as it should, there's no problem with it. Everything's a personal interpretation anyway. And overall, doesn't seem bad for someone who doesn't know much Japanese.

that shitass princess needs a more thorough thrashing
He did promise a beatdown. I'll hold him to that. I don't dislike her, though. As a character, not as a person. She's a sufficiently insane villain.

MC might be OP but the other characters get a lot of attention too and aren't just bystanders that watch the MC save the day.
That's what I like as well. It's much more of a team effort than most Japanese isekai and isekai-likes.

Literal translations often times don't reflect how in other languages the same sentiment would be expressed. Hence why I prefer the slightly freer way of translating things, which gives the readership a better and more coherent understanding of the character.

You can easily find sentiments lost in translation, take for example translating "-san" as mister every time.

TLDR; The Japanese way of repeating the exact same thing twice to add emphasis can go over readers' heads, while the more commonplace "buy one get one free" is more applicable and easier to understand for us English readers.

What happened was the publisher treated the author poorly, then delayed the release of volume 9 for over a year. The author lost motivation to write the story. He left his publisher and never got a new one for this light novel. He abandoned it for a new story.
so light novel is dead? the manga hasn't caught up?? or already got an axe? also the series does have a wn, right? at least that one ended... right? 🥺🥺
ps: sorry for too many questions.

I really wish it would continue. It's not often an mc devises a way to get back to their original world. Well, Suimei did and went back to his Earth. ...and came back to the other world, with reinforcements. A lot of things author could have done from there. Except, novel stops right after...

The same sentiment is lost to anyone who doesn't know Japanese well enough even when you leave it untranslated, so for a good translation (which can be very hard), you need a proper analogue in the target language.

Does vol 9 ends in a conclusive arc? Or is it a cliffhanger?

Not a cliff hanger nor a conclusion.

He goes back to earth in order to find out something about a certain antagonists magic. The girls find out who suimei really is and about his pedigree and standing in the magicka society. The antagonist in reference is somone suimei believed he had already killed on earth years before. He goes to speak to the magicka king, the leader of all magicians in suimei's order. He brings everyone but his two childhood friends. The novel ends with them still on earth.

The "buy one, get one" gag worked pretty well.

The final page, small print, inset panel; in lieu of "Alright, so..." I think I would've gone with "Uh... so, here's the thing..."
The way it is works perfectly, and needs nothing, I just think the second option gives it more... aji? More flavor?
