The other nerd in me is thinking of all the Miqote Dragoons I get in Duty Finder in FFXIV, and having to walk that back just a tiny bit.

Might be because they'll be in a labyrinth, AKA an enclosed space, rather than an open field. At least, that's my rationalization for it.

I think he's thinking in terms of their party balance as things currently stand before testing her out in combat.

Sherry is already using a spear, so he doesn't have anything against using a spear in the labyrinth.

Miria was talking about her weapon of choice during fishing, so he just wanted to ask again what she used for the labyrinth.

Nah, they use a spear later on. What comes to mind for me is maybe him thinking "harpoon" (given underwater spear fishing and Miria's job), which isn't really a good melee weapon. And then it's either mistranslated, or he's misunderstanding what she means, or he does understand her but the text is ambiguous.

Good enough for a handwave, anyway.

You're correct that he was thinking of harpoon.
The line "Isn't that for fishing?" on pg 10 was それは銛では? in the raw, which I would translate as "are you talking about a harpoon?"

Then he clarified the question "I was asking (about your weapon) for the labyrinth, (not for fishing)."

Well they're not bound by order/ do seems to have strong personalities /free will otherwise (Shirley did willingly become a slave after all) but other than the status card as long as they're not trying to steal a slave he could prolly talk to Allen or another slaver to change out the collars since the contract can be changed

You're right in that the collar appearance is because of the different vendors.

The other future members all have different-looking collars, Roxanne and Sherry are the only ones that are the same.

Regardless of the in-world explanation, we all know it's really because Miria's looks like a cat collar.

I was thinking the same in the last panel I noticed when Roxanne had to yank her back. Life wait, why isn't she wearing a slave collar at all. Assuming that all future slaves will have the original collar design unless they come up with some reason for it to be specific

Well they did adjust the contract to free sherry if michio dies but she did discuss/consider like "If a slave wanted to kill the master, the labyrinth would be the best part) but yeah they prolly have to have them on display or so/prolly be a deterrent for ppl to hit on his party members even tho there's been a few times in the labyrinth where these guys were staring at roxanne's chest

(tho it'd prolly be hard unless they go even more off the grid/survived in the wild b/c it'd change their status/class to bandit or so, unless it wouldn't if you simply attacked but the monsters got the killing blow)

future elven slave's look slightly nicer maybe bc she was a noble before. and dragon girl has a black collar with like tag? instead of that "hoop" that sherry/roxxane has, at least on the LN illusts
