That's certainly a valid point. On the other hand, perhaps Michio doesn't want to separate Sherry too much from Roxanne and now Miria as well, to make her more clearly only a crafter. While Sherry certainly has been happy with creating items, seeing how she previously thought she's no good, maybe it's wise to not make her only work as blacksmith, nothing else. It would be even worse if Michio left her behind now that Miria is around. For the time being it's rough for Sherry to basically divide her mental and material resources between two categories while Roxanne and Miria can invest everything in fighting. I reckon over time it should become easier. Once they are rich, with plenty of stuff to play with, it's Sherry turn to shine, creating jolly good equipment for them.

The Master Smith skill can only make items specifically part of the skill system - weapons, armour, and accessories - and enchant them. Sherry is no better than any ordinary person when it comes to skill regarding making non-dungeon tools.

That aside, most of the drama outside combat is MC's fault, because he's fundamentally unwilling to tell anyone, even his own harem, anything he doesn't absolutely have to. Which is somewhat reasonable to an extent - in a relatively hostile world, keeping your cards close to your chest is a good idea - MC does it a little too excessively.

Like he's already caused Sherry stress and anxiety by refusing to tell her he can see slots, or that he figured out the requirement for her to become a Master Smith. Or put party members in danger because he changed their job (temporarily weakening them) and didn't tell them.

Sherry has always had a self-esteem problem.
She tried to sell herself high because she failed as a blacksmith and as a Shrine Maiden, always comparing her breasts with Roxanne's udders. Later on, when she needed new equipment, she perceived it as a personal lack, rather than having tutorial gear on intermediate levels...

Considering what the other girls are bringing to the table it makes sense that Sherry feels at least a little insecure. Roxanne and now the new girl are strong fighters and are getting stronger all the time, while Sherry's abilities are the best when it comes to upgrading and working on their gear. Sure she's a fighter too but she doesn't shine there and now she's been watching the cat girl get all the praise. She's got middle slave (child) syndrome.

Insecurity is not rational, it just eats at you when you feel insecure. She's got to be a successful Master Smith since she's been hanging with Michio, but the feeling of being not good enough is ingrained too deep to just go away. There are no therapists in this world, and Michio sucks horribly at being one.

Just loving all these Miria faces, you can tell the artist is having an absolute blast. I don't remember this insecure Sherry sub-arc in the novels. Also I dunno why she's so insecure she's a Master Smith slave! They're probably the rarest slaves out there. It's gonna end on a boob joke, isn't it?

edit: Okay now I see the issue, he had Sherry hand Miria the spear and she was given the club and with his comments (directed at himself not Sherry) she took that as a demotion.

It's not materials that's the problem, it's how badly designed the exp system is. First the fact that aside from Michio no one knows that there is an exp system, but second and more importantly Master Smiths have a sort of ritual for their growth because of the unknown exp system, I think Sherry said it was 6 months of creating a Misanga twice a day before they would normally move on and she's already far exceeded that.

He should die without telling anyone how to unlock Master Smith. That would cause so much social and economic damage that it would potentially shatter the world. As for changing the jobs they generally wouldn't care as they don't believe they even have levels outside Explorer.
