Because, as I remember it, Michio met Miria in her hometown. He was "saving" (buying her on the spot) her after she technically (by accident) became a thief just because she caught her favorite fishies within someones property (IIRC, it was the church).

If I recall it correctly:
She was caught fishing in a forbidden river, and being sold as a slave is part of her punishment.
Her sentence besides that is being her job changed to Diver, and she is forbidden to change her job for X years. (10? 15? I don't remember.) If she would change her job before that, her job would be changed to Pirate by "divine punishment". While they converse about this topic Michio is playing with the party job settings, and carelessly sets Miria's job to Villager. Her job instantly changes to Pirate. Oooops. He changes it back to Diver, but the "divine punishment" was luckily a one time trap for job change, and he can freely alter her job afterwards.

Michio assumes, that she got Pirate instead of Tief, because she broke the law in a water environment.

Remember: Thieves and Pirates (as outlaws) can be killed without legal consequences in this world.

Usually manga follow the LN (and only the WN if there is no LN), because it doesn’t make sense to follow an earlier draft (WN) when there exists a revised edition (LN).

It took a lot of time by we finally got the third girl. Michigan should be happy he found a cat girl with big breast, I'm looking forward to see her in action.
The only negative is that we'll have to wait a lot for the others.
