Well, damn I wasn't expecting that. Being based off of a strategy game, I do expect the possibility she can return later. Like other comments have pointed out, some strategy games (mostly older RTS games like Battle Realms, RA2, WC3) can revive/rebuild lost hero/named units.

Don't you just LOVE "Scripted Events"? You are fighting the Boss and beating him/her, and you're owning their ass, but then a Cutscene that Boss beats you easily

Your character takes multiple attacks that should have made him turn into dust, only to get "unconscious" and you can get them back up with an item no problem, but then a scripted event happens and, SURPRISE!!! Now your character is dead because of a pocket knife! What's that? Heal? Elixir? Any of the HUNDREDS of healing items and spells you have? Oh, no, no, no, we don't do that here, this is a scripted event, your character is gone for good, have a nice day
