Hopefully this means we finally get the beastkin part of the plot involved.

Also, this chapter shows one of those things I'm always curious about in all these "the MC is friendly with all the forest wildlife" bits, with how there's still a predator+prey food chain in the forest. I guess in this series the prey they fight is just still non-sentient (like this rabbit)? Because if he's friendly with both top-end predators and also animals lower on the food chain, it seems like it'd be a kind of awkward situation.

lol well, i guess they didn't wanna talk about the aftermath of the knights recovering and more of the kings bs (ppl eager for more cute puppies lol), but i can imagine the original author or editing team trying to push the story ahead/skip some stuff or whatever considering how long the LN is/prolly not gonna get halfway til like 5 years from now or so lol

Hopefully this means we finally get the beastkin part of the plot involved.

Well, they didn't kill that blue squirrel? that he saved so maybe it depends on mana and stuff b/c other than eating fish or those 'evil serpents' i imagine they wouldn't cut out meat even if the grown crops/wheat is good, and since they originally brought him wild boar i don't think he'd be like "don't kill these boars anymore" or so /probably wouldn't be any animals begging for mercy if they were smart enough versus just hiding or so

Just imagine you catch one of those giant rabbits, and it starts pleading for its life, after the severity of its situation sunk in and it stopped cursing at you probably. Do you just slit its throat, or do you ask it where its favorite vegetables grow first, you know, for the stew?

This story works as long as the MC does not know where the curse comes from or how it is maintained, i get the pups are going to find some of the slaves that run away, is obvious... but what are they going to do to make the slaves not tell the MC everything that is happening?... language barrier i guess?... though it would be a bit hard to see a scene where the slaves are describing how they kill their dad and send their mom to the breeding farm and then have the MC saying "I don´t get a thing of what you are saying but have this stew that i made a while ago"

Quite refreshing to see slaves but not "forced snuggling" (apart from the breeding thing)... probably I'm a bit jaded that i think "they are using them as if they where disposable objects but at least they are not lewding them" (probably someone will say "but in the WN/LN they -describes all the sex related things they do with them-", just let me have this really small thing for now until the manga shows it)

Yes, precisely that. MC will finally be able to communicate with others aka language barrier removed after he unknowingly sorta "reverts" the cursed black gem that is the main source of the curse--and that will happen after one or two (or three) things after this.
