I hope he has decided to become an "evil" god or demon lord that will go against the law and nature of that world and enforce his own ideals (which his own idea of justice) as a form of "necessary evil".
That will make this manga very interesting and great.
I can't understand this MC's dilemma. What exactly is he agonizing over? That his actions will have consequences? Like duh? He kills the piece of shit, the villagers are saved. They may suffer later because of this, or their lives might get better, who knows. He don't kill the piece of shit, the villagers dies now, their families will suffer later, or they might get a lucky break, who knows.
All I can see is him gaining some cheat powers and because of it, he got (maybe unknowingly) a god-complex along with his powers, that's why he feels the need to "agonize" about stuff that is beyond him.
i never can get used to the MC's 30-yr old wrinkles
@shyevsa what, didn't you read the prev chapters? MC is preety conscious about being moral, far more than most isekai MCs. at the same time, he's quite careless with his power too, so he gets a dose of concentrated regret when he does something like atomizing a couple of adventurers to loot drops.
@IMACOP Well, will he stay on the village after saving them? Is he someone who'd just settle after it? Either he confronts this guy and goes full against all of the people connected to him or they'll just take a chance when he isn't around anymore, raid the village and kill everyone. He's just one guy.
@DexHaunter Yes, that's why I said he's thinking like a god when he have no reason to, because he's just one man. I can't understand why he's thinking like that, unless he actually believes himself to be a god.
It's like [ossan-A] is stressing out because of how the choices he made in his lifestyle while living in a 1st world country is going to affect the livelihood of some pitiful poverty-stricken people in some 3rd world country (exaggeration, I know, but you get the idea).
besides being a good isekai there's alot i like about it. like how he acts on his morals without hesitation, while being concous about the consequences of his ations.
poor ossan... you even got bashed by the readers here...
well... imacop's opinions about ossan having a god-complex are somewhat right... but then again, he is from another world (our relatively-safe-and-peaceful modern Earth) where conflicts doesn't escalate into a mass-murdering or brutal torturing madness...
he's been living for 23 years with his conscience (lets assume his conscience is formed at age 12), then he was suddenly thrown into a somewhat-medieval era where conflicts are usually settled with violence and injustice, where the one in higher position oppressed the weak with armed soldiers, not to mention that those who are in power are generally having a delusion grandeur disorder and imagine if you are in his' shoes... what will you do??
he is a working adult and has considerably good personality (he stated about probability of abusing his cheat power in ch 1) also has a somewhat-strong altruistic behavior (cleaning the trash of other's camp and impulsively helping other in need)...
I'm also a working adult and it just came naturally about how you must think all the consequences of your actions, how it will affect your surrounding and who will also be affected... seeing how he was agonized about impulsively thrown his nose into someone's else business without further thinking about the consequences and causes is just natural and perfectly normal... after all, a healthy and sane person always has their own guilty conscience...
TL;DR: he's just being naive and i don't see naivety as a sin or something you can use as an excuse to judge people... while the result of being naive sometimes can also backfiring, naivety itself is a rather good trait one can ever have in themselves...
also about someone who complained that navi was being a party-pooper, should i remind you that navi is originated from that world and the role he was assigned is to be a guide and limiter for ossan... there is nothing wrong with navi giving an appropriate feedback for ossan in this chapter... its just normal... you just think that he was a party-pooper because you are using your own standard as a 4th eyes, moreover you didn't try to put yourself in his (ossan) shoes... in short, you didn't try to empathized with ossan...
if you noticed on page 10 how navi expressed his emotion showing that he is on the same side with ossan...
the one part that someone else mentioned about guilt-trip nonsense is actually a guideline for ossan...
since navi's role are just a guide and limiter, he can not or rather will not actually interfering with ossan's decisions...
but then again, at the same time i can not agree with ossan's naivety...
let's imagine:
1. You are a martial artist expert with the highest rank and abilities
2. Are taking a walk and suddenly some thugs surrounds you, trying to rob you
3. You fight them effortlessly and the thugs got furious, readying their weapons (stick/nailed bat/knives/brass knuckles/etc)
4. You still manage to fend them off without major injuries
5. Since they are dangerous and trying to hurt/kill, you decided to incapacitated them by breaking their bones, cut their limbs, etc
6. In a midst of that, an army general of the highest authority is passing by and see your scuffles
7. He decided to butt in without any inquiries for further analysis and judged you as the main offender
8. You: WTF, man? i was the victim and you just waltz in innocently while saying that i was the villain for injuring my attackers...
9. If you know what i mean...
this is where the naivety is backfiring... blindly and impulsively butting in on someone else business is not that good... both for you and them... but at least, in this chapter, ossan was on the right boat...
TFW people got pissed when MC acts ethical instead of being a typical isekai sociopath for a change.
@IMACOP the problem is that the villagers might be even bigger piece of shits, and he will end up killing both side, resulting in a bigger blood bath. Just because they look weak and poor doesn't mean they're not capable of being assholes. I think Communism has taught everyone that lesson.
