@liquidxlax maybe if he was a psychopath who doesn't get affected by seeing the people he loves die in horrific ways over and over again and he has to figure out a way to save them each time that would be the case, but the respawn where he is literally just catatonic from trauma shows that it has a real, legitimate affect on him. Then there was the one where out of frustration he tried to brute force his way to save everyone and wound up fucking it up super hard and getting some people super murdered even faster. It's really well done. I understand if you've never really experienced anything traumatic in your life like, say, seeing a loved one's gruesomely murdered corpse in front of you, but it does have a drastic effect on people, and remember he's just a highschooler. He's at a pretty turbulent state in his life and this shit don't help his mental stability. Him respawning and trying not to die is what gives his life meaning right now, because if he dies and respawns, he loses everything he had done and it makes him feel helpless and useless.
