This chapter feels a bit weird wrt the furniture. Like, I get not wanting to appear noveau riche, but then responding to that by buying even more expensive items, but just that appear more understated, seems a bit goofy to me.

Not to mention, they showed the Before appearance and none of it was bad, just overbearing all put together (combined with their recent status increase), so I feel like they could have probably offset the majority of the cost by selling it back to the merchants instead of just going broke, since that would definitely sell well to more established nobles. It would've made more sense if they just had all the items be a "weird fashion" thing like the weird doll they made on page 4.

I guess, author just copied irl situtation, before peeps tried to decorate to the max, having a lot of furniture with lots of items. That versus new "clean aesthetic", ie gray/beige minimalist slop. While it may look sober at the first glance, it's just a new marketing move to force ppl to buy more to own less (ie what minimalism stands for rn).
Kinda dissapointed that this chapter didn't mock this perspective.

The Before looked WAY better and spending all your money for shit that looks worse is a dumb plot.

Also dumb they arrested those merchants who "sold cheap stuff at a high price in another territory" - that isnt even wrong or a crime lmao.

Yeah it was a bit of a weird theme for the chapter, I've been in old Tudor houses &toured a uni that used to be something similar to a manor or estate house for trips as a kid and his first house was pretty similar to those.

In general maximalism was very popular with people with too much money on their hands on europe, and excessive decoration of fabrics lol.

Man, that priest is always hustling Ars. Leave the little guy alone.
While the priest doesn't know it, it is silly of Ars to build a castle inspired by cathedrals and forget to build a church. Ars should have said he was waiting to get input from the priest himself on the design, and whip up some concept pieces on the spot with his magic.
