It's pretty vague in the original text too, but the localization makes it even vaguer, you arrive to the conclusion because it's really the only option, but I feel LHTranslation's localization of the translation takes away a bit from this manga, that's just my opinion though.

Bro, they live in a forest where even the rabbits have fangs, he had to move 5km just to find a source of water, and a random tree in the middle of the clearing is thicker than a fucking skyscrapper. For all we know that place could be bigger than Brazil and his "unnumbered inbred dogs" aren't even a rounding error to the regular population there. 👀
