I see a lot of people thinking "meh" about this manga. Also that it seems to be difficult to keep up with as there's no coherent or driving plot. While I agree with them some what, I think it would help a lot of people to realize that this is the point of the series. Instead of a being read as a story with a traditional structure, I think this is more meant as almost a journal entry by MC Hiraku in his life. Perhaps like a letter sent from him to us - as the readers.
So of course every detail isn't going to be said or mentioned, as he'd only be writing the highlights. Largely in due to the limitations of the medium he'd be writing in. Every detail of generally mundane days would be far to much to write in a letter or a journal entry. It would go much more into detail during moments like the fight tournament, a huge, exciting, impressionable event. However little would be said, or heck even remembered, of mochi testing or the Nth dragon that came for his relationship advice. That's my two cents at least. I was really close to dropping this series 50 some chapters ago until I changed that perspective. Now it's like a refreshing letter from a friend instead of a story to invest in!
