Please remember folks even if the Minotaur's are farmers it's impossible to start farming in the Forest of Death without the A.F.T. The soil is salted, remember? Only the special flora native to the region can grow in it until the A.F.T. converts the soil into fertile soil to plant crops in. That's why he is going to have to personally make every field in every town in his settlement first. After that, they can plant and crop rotate the normal way, but there will be no future expansion when he dies. It's a thing to worry about. If the population grows beyond the finite crops they'll be able to grow, they will need to find a reliable outside food source or risk starving to death.

@Mojo if it was just the salt, people might be able to ship in fertile soil, to keep expanding. The problem with trying to live in the Forest of Death, without the mc, and disregarding the monsters, is that the ground and trees are too hard to work with. They can't clear out trees, or dig into the ground, without the mc.

There's a side story supposed to be +100 years in the future and he's become the most influential person in the world. People call him Village Chief. It didn't mention he died or his children take over his position so we can assume he's still alive and still making children.

@CountryMage I'm sorry to disagree with you there, but I think the dragon, angel, vampires etc do have enough strength to clear the land. The Minotaur said they were "barely able to dug into the earth" this means they can, but it's difficult at their strength. If you recall the tournament chapters the Minotaurs were hardly the top tier in strength of the population. And the amount of soil needed for farming would be too difficult to transport considering how isolated they are in the vast forest, with no roads, surrounded by mountains.
Either way we can both agree that with out the A.F.T. they are in for a very hard time.
There are a lot of reasons the that place was called the Forest of Death and was never inhabited before.
