I am half expecting him to give earth recipes ........
Orc meat already seems pretty good without him saying it lacks flavor/needing a “fix” unless he gets to find rice and do a monster fried rice lol , altho at least his appraisal skill probably can let him know tips for prepping certain ingredients

Love the bear dude lol, I guess the mysterious guy at the end is either some noble or maybe an alchemist in search of a rare potion/herb ingredient

The way he says at that time might make him the random guy we saw in the bathing scene some chapters back too both has blondeish hair

I wonder if it is because of the copyright issues or not but I remember reading that they made reference to Winnie the Pooh when mentioning a honey loving bear. Sad they didn't put it in on at last page.

Ah right, hopefully the herbs he asks Shuu for won’t accidentally give specific races a rash or so , or just introducing shuu to their employer who conveniently needs to borrow the power of a collector

Winnie the Pooh is in public domain, there's no copyright issues around its use.

Every time the characters say the MC's name, I always thinking of Ronaldo's "Shuuuu" meme :kek:
There actually is a soccer webtoon/korean manhua where a soccer player gains skills/becomes young again and 'steals' his catchphrase (despite the disclaimer like "any similarities are a coincidence" i guess you can straight up lie in disclaimers to avoid getting sued lol)

I think it's fine that it's a generic bear drawing, would be weird to see winnie the pooh show up let alone a random popular bear mascot in japan like that one black bear one but i would imagine it's also b/c of the china thing if they plan to sell it in that country too lol (although political discourse/saltiness aside, you'd think he'd use it to his advantage to soften his image but eh)

@jctsoi

My guess would be because of international issues with China. One of their political leaders gets compared to Winnie the Pooh a lot and has a bit of a complex about it now. So at the very least the manga would be banned in any Chinese region, if it isn't already due to the wn/ln.

I wonder how many chinese readers there would be bc plenty of alternatives to read (although there is an eng translation of the LN tho i doubt unless it's rly good i imagine most fan translations wouldnt pay for it versus it already being online or so unless it's also really easy to get pirated versions of novels too) so idk if they'd rly aim for the chinese market/audience as much but it would be kinda weird to see a winnie the pooh ref in like an isekai anyways versus a series that took place in 'modern day' like how there's some disneyland parodies or so

I'm pretty sure there's a Pooh reference hidden in Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, even if I can't quite recall where :)...

Honestly, it's surprising how much content gets smuggled in. But I imagine most media gets filtered thrue whatever their version of the mental hygiene police is called.

While a little on the egregious side, I could easily see anything with the Pooh bear being filtered out and magazine as a whole being flagged for closer scrutiny.

i'm sure there are chinese americans or foreigners staying now and then for work that might need to use vpns but if anything i'd imagine other than some fantasy stuff, a lot would not bother translating some isekai stuff since a decent chunk of them is 'escapism from corporations/black companies' which might be its own propaganda so ppl don't get any ideas about wanting a proper work life balance but that's a whole nother convo i guess (versus just internet/fan translations that don't censor stuff considering i think there are some BL chinese webtoons and live dramas even if gay marriage/relationships aren't as accepted over there

There is a surprising ammount of translation going on in both directions. Just look at the kerfuffle with WebNovel and NU a few years back as an example. But you're likely correct that whole genres are being filtered out to be more compatible with their ideals.
