TBF its easier to see oneself deep freezing a 3 meter tall Blue Grizzly without much collateral. A 10 to 15 meter tall dragon OTOH seems like a bit of a stretch for someone who believes himself weak in combat.

Though do agree he should put more effort into training his magic for self defense reasons.

Given how obsessive he is i'd expect him to either learn more barrier spells or just pay an adventurer to protect him but i guess it's good the other girl was able to find a plan on the spot assuming they won't always stick together
