He missed out on his own amazing, perfect isekai life because he was too much of a fucking idiot. It's like choosing all the wrong answers on your dialogue trees and eighty percent of the game is locked out for you, then wondering why the game is so short and dull.

My body is rejecting my knowledge of this existing because it hurts my soul.

No. He didn't even realize he was turning her down. He sincerely believed he was answering her question and helping her. He has no idea that these beautiful women in his life were throwing themselves at him and needing his assistance and guidance, wanting to protect and love him, to fight by his side. It's almost like the normal people were ignoring him so that the universe could funnel him towards his true companions, the ones who would always have his back and be his love interests. And he just went 'Eh, what are these weird people?' and fucked off. Augh my soul.

@Kayriel Yeah thats the vibre I am feeling. Wondering why I should keep reading when all hes doing is giving bad ends to the girls he met who reached out to him. Hes just an idiot who deserves to be alone his whole life. More I read, the more painful it becomes.

One of the first things the story established was that by the standards of the other world he is unspeakably ugly, so the art style difference is probably to reinforce that.
