That's the thing about this series, it's hard to place whether there will be tragedy or comedy or both.(this series likes to yank our chains and keep us guessing on where things will land.)

Honestly before I was in the camp that Elf and the others definitely died, but Takafumi seems to be the author's mouth peice so going off the rant last chapter they probably don't die and the reason he left is going to be something comedic.

A little disappointing though, lately this manga has been missing the trauma that really got me into it at first. There is nothing like good comedy to really bring out the sadness in a story, but now it seems there is a bit too much comedy drowning all of that out.

I think the only way he could have gone back to Japan would be the same way he came; in a coma.

That could mean that since his return his isekai self has been lifeless somewhere, probably with Elf, Mabel and Alicia looking after him/fighting over him. Effectively putting their lives on hold for him and being all sad while he is relatively happy living with his nephew, telling him his story and playing Sega games.

Perhaps if Uncle goes unconscious with the trauma of learning Sega no longer make consoles, he will return to his other world body, and reunite with Elf and the others, although we wouldn't get to know that was happening until he got back and to that point in the narrative (an epilogue maybe) because Takafumi wouldn't want spoilers.

This chapter is full of Rare Elf W. Sui is so cute, and Uncle is nice for remembering her full name and finding her ring.

Elf is pretty wonderfully flat. It's just inconsistent sometimes and accidentally drawn bigger. Especially in the anime.

I kinda wish, instead of Elf dying, she will transfer to normal world too, I think it could be another fresh source of humor looking on elf trying to adapt to current world, like it was in that French movie with Jean Reno... Also imagine the epicness of seeing uncle playing his favorite sega games together with Elf san...

It's comes out monthly but the team behind it was like a month behind and now they've started releasing every two months for some reason? Im baffled no other team is translating this at a better pace or in other languages. There are like 2 untranslated chapters and an extra

I can't speak for the trans team, but the break before was due to a break in publication for the mangaka and having seen the raw for the next one I think the chapter was a lot longer than usual. I really hope they can get back to more regular releases soon too, but their work is always of a very high quality and a series like this probably needs some specialist knowledge of Sega game history (and/or extra research) to get all the references and names that uncle makes translated correctly too.

Edit: Although 3 months now is worrying.

When he was told that at the beginning of the series, he erased his memory because knowing was too painful.

I mean at this point uncle saying that the interesting stories will end soon and that he doesnt know what happened to elf makes pretty much no sense since elf wouldn't probably just not see him for like 12 years. So probably elf died and uncle just erased a part of his memory.
