Yup, she's been like that from the start. Chapter 54, Page 28-31 are where she first shows up in this arc, for reference.

For most of the arc I was just going with the flow not k owing who 90% of the people were and what their role or stakes were in the whole thing 😅😂

While the monthly release sure does make us forget how the story went (just another reason to reread this), it is nice that little things like these get their own sub-chapter, rather than being put in the main story and "clogging" it. The discontinuity of these small storys also help in shaping up the world and its characters quite nicely too without giving us a wikipedia entry.

the Boat arc in Berserk was actually completely fine, aside from the length of time between chapter releases. Go back and read it again, it's just a nice little diversion with some cool monsters. Not a slog at all.

imo (at least at the time) the problem with the boat was less the contents of the chapters and more the interminable wait between them...

this arc has definitely been long as fuck but the bathtub arc in that one succubus manga was the real test of patience lol

the meaning was more about having patience, imh this arc is pretty well paced, we got to know some things about the plot, Divine Sword origin and purpose, that it wasn't a god or anything that summoned Uncle, that spirits can be deceived and do things as summon beings, progress with Elf and now Alicia, i would argue it seems stretched because the author decided to put together two arcs that others authors would separate; they would certanly put a mine arc or two between Uncle and Elf parting ways and Magatsu escaping.
Bath arc was long but this plushie one is what is getting on my nerves . but raw is already over it at least.
