Yeah, the damaged elevator buttons don't make sense. The damage looks too superficial to actually ruin the switches underneath the buttons.

If I were the author, I would've just messed with the elevator system to only lead to the 50th floor regardless of what buttons were pressed. Same result, less effort on the part of the bad guy, lol.
