On Page 6, the text says "flintlock rifles" but the illustration is that of a tanegashima (a uniquely Japanese interpretation of a matchlock). For one reason or another, Japanese were not onboard with flintlocks and they blew straight into the cartridge era (with Murata -- yes I'm aware of Dutch percussion rifles etc.).
