I realize a certain degree of disbelief suspension is routinely necessary for fantasy/isekai stories, but aren't all these kids, like, six years old? Why is their guardian adult entertaining the idea of training them to become independent adventurers?
I was under the impression that he isn't. Sounded like he is training them so they can find their way home when lost, can deal with weakling goblins in 1v1's (maybe even 1v2) and before that notice when they are present and avoid the area. And some other survival skills just-in-case.

Also, because the option in his mind is having the kids starve to death (repeated inability to make them stop), so it is either this or death from inaction.

It's less training them to be adventurers and more that he knows they likely wont give up on going out to gather food, so he may as well see to it that they're at least capable of defending themselves should they run into monsters again.

Would be funny, if "blessed" buff also increased your luck and not just your baseline abilities. Would explain their lucky rescue and later on allow for any plot conveniences to be shrugged away.

This.
And if I am not mistaken, the two older kids are about the age, where you'd start apprenticing a trade anyhow.

Better to start training young, specially for something like magic.

People who've never taken care of children (son/daughter, niece/nephew, cousins, etc.), have no idea what children are like or what they are capable of based on their age physically or mentally. Most mangaka and western comic writers/artists have never spent any meaningful time with children and have no real frame of reference, so they write them as smaller teenagers.

Pure speculation, but now that we have seen her blessed status, I'm guessing Ed will figure out she can purify miasma. This will lead to the religious authorities finding out and demanding she be turned over to the church or outright kidnapping her despite probably being human supremacists that will be resentful of needing the assistance of an elf.

I'm surprised they weren't 'supervised' before, but other than playing while the parents doing the herb gathering, if you're old enough to lift up a sword you're probably old enough to train although
Hope this story doesnt go from "kids making ends meet by figuring out food and medicine with KNOWLEDGE" to "now we are a party killing monsters going into dungeons"

"slow life" is in the title but wouldn't be surprised if the editor pushes for more 'action' scenes versus him being some genius chef and it being like "restaurant to another world"

yeah with pokemon , ppl start their journeys at 10-11 tho even with powerful pokemon 'protecting' them, idk how much an 11 year old can travel on their own and make meals/go camping or so unless JP tweens are that independent /their education before becoming a trainer is all focused on surviving til you catch one but pokemon stories never go that deep canonically lol
