I'll never get over how hilarious it is for so many Isekai to make black hair some special unique feature. Like, even everywhere outside of Asia black hair is exceedingly common all over the planet. It's like making an isekai planet where the MC has two eyes, but everyone else has 3 just to make two-eyed people feel special.

Probably based on their collective experience. There might be in the past when they experience tragedies and saw a commonality like predators always hunt at night when it is dark so they associate dark or black with death.

In this case , most likely some black hair tribes of alleged invaders invade them. May or may not be true( they are bad) since the victors tend to write histories where they are righteous.

Also possible some black haired clan are made a scapegoat. They might be powerful but some people either got envious or oppressed by them(power tend to do that) and they conspired for their downfall.

In ancient Egypt it is the opposite , they view black as life and white as death. It is due to white sands of the deserts are infertile and will kill thier crops while the black soil of the Nile gives life.

Edit: Apparently , I made a mistake. White means something else , black is right though, it means fertility.

Possibly like what happen in the Japanese TV series "Dogs of Orthrus" specifically the "Devil with God Hand" . The plot is basically "An Angel with Death Hand and a Devil with God Hand(can heal any maladies)" The reason for the 2 men to have such attributes is their power.

The one with death hand first experienced the fragility of life so he viewed it as precious so he lived a relatively saintly life. While the one with the god hand became cynical and antisocial cause he saw the length humanity will go through just to be healed and will resent him just by not being able to save their love ones.

In this case after they was gone people resent them just by not being there. Just like the scenario of the live action. They able to heal any maladies but when they are gone they resent them for every tragedies. There are other scenarios where they will resent them.

Lemme just yoink that historical fact and use it in my ttrpg setting... but you know kids sometimes can be born with one hair color and sometime within the first 3 years all of their hair falls out and grows back a different color. Would be fun to have a "cursed" child who was born with bone white hair only for it fall out and it to grow back a more normal dark brown when they were two but their parents had already abandoned them at the church when they were a year old during a famine

Dude there are furries there are werewolves, dwarves, elfes, magic. But hair color is crossing the line, hair dye technology or magic is unheard of. The long lost art of "minding your business"

Hell, its even possible for babies to be born the WRONG skin color, and it slowly fading into the right color over time. And this is apparently hereditary so it can happen a lot in the same bloodline.

South East Asian particularly those with European or Chinese ancestors sometimes have white skin during childhood but became brown as they grow up. Most likely due to sun exposure.

A bunch of these titles are designed as Self Insert MC fodder. What other Japanese characteristic would you choose to mark your MC as a Special Boy/Girl/Creature/Other for a Japanese Audience? Red Hair occurs naturally in the Japanese Population, but is pretty rare. And without going into racist caricature, there are only so many "distinctive" features that you can use as short hand to identify your MC being distinct from the rest of the population for Isekais.

There's the evil version of this, and the non-evil version. I'm sure a government backed/run organization like the guild, would be amiss to not inform the lord that a black haired person has done something that stood out. Not necessarily to mark him as a problem, just to give the lord a heads up, 'hey, there's a black haired kid, other people might cause problems because of this'. This doesn't mean the lord won't be a problem, just that, this isn't a cut and dry issue.

And his last warning to the kid is, "People who see it, may harbor ill intent towards you". And is Not "Seize that child!".
