kids irrational jealousy can be dumb but even if he was taken in/adopted you'd think he'd see them as siblings (not that it stops some animanga artists, older age reincarnation aside lol) but at least he's not a bad kid deep down or so

Also, him being the leader of the kids he's taking care of is a much better progression point than "mean kid bad, serves him right".

This chapter is the redemption arc of Harris lol, before he was just the local bully.

It's pretty clear they're not siblings, so that's why I'm guessing his hate towards Ed is fueled at least a little bit because of jealousy. Miinya and Ed are almost always joined by the hip, always seen together. In fact today is the first time we've seen each other on their own.

He isn't adopted. It's actually kinda the opposite in a way. Spoilers, since I don't remember how much has been explained in the manga so far. He was left in the slums by his mother while she's out as an adventurer. He found the elf family and let them stay with him for awhile. He still has parents. He's more like a family friend/benefactor than a sibling.

As for Ed's family, this is definitely a spoiler mind you, his dad is a prince of this country that's currently in some political dispute. His mom was one of his subordinates who took ed into hiding and returned to help the dad through it. They'll come back for him once the conflict is over. She's also sending money to him through the adventurer's guild, so he's not supposed to be poor. However, someone in the guild is embezzling the money.
