i understand if they just leave them but steal villages supplies and destroy the transport? nah they aren't merchants. those are bandits.

either it gonna be the usual "MC moral bulshit" let they get away with it, or karma plot where the orcs aims them since all the goods with them so basically they are a defenseless baits, or the authority gonna punish them. i mean the girls party is from well known family since Academy is expensive, right? so im not surprised if one of fhem is a noble daughter or someone related with high authority

This guy is just too stupid.... like, why steal the food and destroy the property???

Like, if he didn't help, that's one thing.... but making enemies outta people for no reason is stupid...

Looking at next chapter's raw
Looks like the orcs will be following the foods. Can't wait for the one after next one.

So Enrique is your typical hedgefund investor that only thinks about short term profits even if it means tossing a long term fortune because he wanted money now.

maybe i'm growing insane for still following this but that merchant just signed his own death warrant for basically no reason whatsoever

also - sora - 'i want to save the people next to me there is no place for calculations in this' could really have fit in better in the chapter where you were confronted with the institution of literal slavery and chose to participate in it?

This. So very much this. Kinda rankles at me that some people are puzzled as to why someone would be so avaricious that they'd stoop this low when there's people like this in real life - far too many.

Once, while I was doing Uber, I picked up a couple who'd migrated from California because the property taxes got to being more than they wanted to pay for. Turns out they were in the business of real estate investment - buying and flipping houses.

And they saw absolutely no issue with doing the same in my town - driving up real estate costs until no one can afford to live there.

Fuck these ass holes.

(BTW: I also find it amusing that there were people trying to defend this guy's actions in the previous chapter's comment thread because it's just fine to look out for your own interests - never mind there were hints that this guy is corrupt as all hell.)

My complain is that it could have been so much more, instead we got a cookie-cutter mustache-twirling (quite literally) uninspired excuse for a villain...
I mean, when Sora asked him to help the villagers, he could have said something along the lines of "I'm leaving here the escort I paid for, with provisions from MY supplies on a cart from MY caravan, I think it's already plenty of help at my personal expense; and we aren't even talking about that fat sack of gold in your hand, that I have to pay out of my pockets, in order to provide a modicum of safety to the people in the caravan that NEED to reach their destination, orcs or no orcs"

Instead we got the "Because I'm EEEEVIIIIL! MUHAHAHAHAHA!" act...

The protag is a rare case of an isekai MC who actually LEARNS. Later on, thanks to this event, he extorted a group of crooked merchants (who previously threatened him for merely sharing a camp with them) by selling them healing potions at a price that can only be called highway robbery...all while the merchants in question are in grave danger of DYING. And this is AFTER Sora tries selling the potions at a much fairer price, putting aside the fact that he's still selling the potions while they're in grave danger; the crooked merchants expected Sora to give the potions for free, because, well, they're in danger and got pissed when Sora reminded them how rude were they to him before. They have no choice but to buy the potions at the inflated price, fearing that he's going to hike the price even more. To pour salt to the wound, Sora even said that if only they were nice to him, he's willing to give them the potions for free.

As for the conclusion to this arc, Enrique's company lied and had the adventurers locked up in prison. However, one of the adventurers uses their clout for a retrial, which proves Enrique's guilt as well as everyone involved. However, this isn't over; Sora demanded that their merchant license to be stripped for a long time, on top of demanding a HUGE compensation fee, which they have no choice but to pay.

What else...oh, I know. Later on, shortly after this arc, he fought another assassin coming after him. Sora kills them rather brutally, by burning them to death...AFTER tricking an angry mob to attack said assassin while the assassin in question is helpless. Geez, this kid is MESSED UP, I tell you.
hmmm, I actually originally stopped reading the novel at that last part. At the time, I thought it was too jarring a change. Other things bothered me but that it seemed like he jumped from overly forgiving jp protag to edgy jp protag bothered me enough to consider it the last straw. However, when you lay it out like that, it seems like a steady progression. Maybe this is worth another shot.

This plot is stupid.

People don't become successful by being ordinary villains. Wall Street is going to legally rob your entire fucking life. Walmart will crush your small business and never pay a dime of taxes.

These guys are bastards LEGALLY because they wrote the rules, and know how to use them.

What this poorly written douche did is a transparent crime. Low grade thuggery. He's a 2d character who exists only to be a foil to the MC.

🙄

When do we get back to the slow life walking around leveling up stuff? That didn't suck.

I mean I get what you’re strangely passionately saying, but… There are no corporations and very little regulations against the wealthy. Who’s going to stop him? Moreso, who’s going to believe them?

That‘s like saying Kings Landing couldn’t possibly get away with sacking that one pretty much defenseless kingdom, that would be immoral!

The sleazy merchant case aside, am I alone in thinking that the morning scene isn't funny at all? It's basically jumping to (wrong) conclusion followed by immediate violence.
especially when it's utterly and completely none of her business to begin with...

I don't think you actually understand what I wrote.

I'm not sure how to clear it up. You like 100% missed what I was saying.
