He can't do it with medicine, but couldn't he use his divine arts to eliminate the buildup?
This is also going up against the limits of modern knowledge. Depending on when this was written, we've only "recently" discovered that drugs that remove the similar plaques involved with Alzheimer's, doesn't necessarily help the patient. Google Donanemab, and the controversy about their approval in 2024. Patient groups and Alzheimer's groups clamored for it, the science behind it was pretty bad, so the actual Science people said it's not worth it as a drug. Patient groups won out, for an incredibly expensive drug that has horrid side effects and doesn't have many benefits. The other "new" drug, Lecanemab also is pretty ineffective overall. I'd guess the author may have known about some of the clinical studies, but not the results when this was originally written. So they may not want to jump the gun on unproven therapies. Even if you use magic.

I don't know how accurate any of this is, but gotta give the mangaka credit for drawing all those diagrams. This series has become a very high level info dump.

This brushes up on an interesting underlying problem. The MC is essentially a massive crutch for this world's medical field. He boosted them toward the 21st century, but there's the very real roadblock that neither he nor the author has any medicinal knowledge past that. For the story itself it means we'll have to deal with medical problems that he can't completely cure or possibly, down the line, might not even know how to tackle. For the world though it means they'll eventually have to acknowledge that there either isn't a medicine god or that said God isn't all knowing AND THEN start to do the hard work of building upon 21st century knowledge after first getting to the 21st century themselves. The first hurdle is trying to change how people see their faith in a world where they think the medicine God's disciple walks the Earth. There were already people practicing and improving upon medicine to the best of their ability while practicing their faith (like we had people advancing science while still believing in various religions), but the dynamic just changes when someone with all the answers appears. Then the second hurdle is getting people to follow the right steps. This is already a case of someone questioning why medicine can't fix a problem we're still dealing with in the modern day while still not having complete knowledge up to this point. Discoveries are meant to be built upon. Not happen all at once. Actually really more haphazardly. The MC is mostly forcing discoveries as needed when particular diseases or problems pop up.

Yeah this is exactly why you will never get a realistic isekai where the character has basically no power and only intelligence and it runs for any period of time, because ultimately that character is limited by the author's actual skill, and if the author were actual that smart to survive in an isekai world till the end, he probably would be doing something else. The mangaka isn't a doctor, no matter how much research he does, let alone a Nobel prize caliber doctor who would be required to come up with cures for diseases we can't cure in our current timeline. Ultimately the character are limited and given freedom by the author, and the more realistic the harder it is for the setting to work, that's why those who want something as low fantasy as grimgar but with some genius level protagonist but still make it plausible without asspull basically won't happen.

That's a happy brain, a perfect meal for a hungry zombie.
If they did something to Salomon the goat, they should pay!

Uhh, so let me make a few guesses on this brewing arc.
  • Solomon has been exiled/excommunicated for whatever reason, likely political and related to Farma.
  • Everybody in the church administration has been replaced.
  • The new head priest isn't the pleasant type and looks down on Farma, not believing about the Medicine God claims.
  • The new church administration wants to take Farma's staff back. Conflicts ensue.
I'd really love to be completely wrong, since I'm personally getting tired of "Church politics, church bad" arcs seen in many isekai stories.

Brother, you literally magicked away the silver atoms in a man’s body, can’t you do the same with this molecule? Do the same for amyloid plaques for dementia patients, and find that neither are addressing the root cause of either disease. Welcome to modern medicine, time to recreate the replication crisis in another world!
