you'll notice a lot of isekai's show the MC (a japanese person) have no concept of a class system. However, the class system is still in affect in todays world. Who doesn't hear about Japanese getting reamed by it in their "black" jobs, always kowtowing to this and that. No sane person doesn't understand the difference in standing between you and your boss or a high value client or investor!

@GrimGriefer I think it's a disconnect, because the modern class system is a lot more fluid than a feudal class system; you can be the boss or the high value client or the investor with relative ease (and I use that term very loosely), but we so rarely see those types as protagonists because they're harder to identify with for the majority of the audience.

A feudal class system, by comparison, is extremely strict, with almost no vertical movement (except down); more so in pre-Meiji Japan, where if you weren't born to a class, there was basically zero chance of ever joining that class.

... Seriously... the fuck is with this guy trying to give bread-advice to the natives? Does he reckon himself the next Azuma Kazuma or something? This would be like me going to Japan and lecturing the natives on rice dishes because I went to an Indian Restaurant a few times. ¬_¬

@Izaya_Onisai - arresting that merchant and the baron is their job. Letter of introduction to the feudal lord of Bailey is a favor they did for their own reasons.
Being patrons of the bakery is something they've done for their own benefit (tasty bread).
Looking good while helping others is major part of being a noble.

@SotiCoto - he asked the locals to replicate food of his homeland, because he is rich and can afford to pay a baker to make custom bread for him.
The local cooking is simple and has been stagnant for a long time, since you can improve the taste by slaying stronger monsters instead. Which is why MC is constantly feeling unfulfilled with local food.

Luna is maybe a material addict, but she was embracing the kids when Taku was going to leave town
