I agree to his decision, though. He made a man-to-man promise (which was already more like a final wish, really) and knew not to put the cart before the horse. Yeah I get the principle behind escaping, but when you literally have an impenetrable rock demon who can manipulate castle walls into hands they didn't even need to enter the battlefield. Just stay put, shield & grab the brother with magic stone hands, get out.
I'll suspend my disbelief for now but it does sour my opinion of the MC pretty significantly. Rock lady seems likable, at least.
because it's bussinWhy did one of soldiers have modern zoomer haircut?
Nah. The rock waifu could've easily construct a giant hand to shield the mc and sister in law. She herself wont be harmed by the enemy weapon. He's also not gravely injured and require medical assistance. Would've been more believable if they reach the shrine and the brother have been kidnapped in case the story wants to keep him alive.I agree to his decision, though. Going back might just allow him to save his brother, but at the same time it also endangers his sister-in-law. Leaving her behind is obviously not a good idea, but bringing her along isn't wise either. The stone woman was confident that she could go into the fray alone and save his brother with ease. But, she can't do the same while having to protect those two, which is shown by her running away instead of like going in as a 3-man-party despite the confidence she showed earlier.
I'd say everyone made the perfect judgement given the circumstances.
