I assume the stone people want evidence that there's a bit of stone in the bloodline.

Either to recruit the people in question, or use them as political leverage.

Maybe to get a proof of legitimacy, a third faction?

Its kinda funny how every other character that gets introduced is a stone person, how could they possibly have stayed secret for any amount of time. Also I can't keep up with any of this factions stuff desu.

Yachiho is essentially a Stone Person magnet, she’s keeps directly & indirectly causing trouble for them, and their secret society.

The Waku Family’s factions have so far made translating this current arc pretty challenging. For this chapter alone I had to rotate between like 5-6 different chapters just to follow the plot, and remember which sibling/family member belongs to which faction (Tamashiro & Mayu are pretty easy to remember though).

I honestly don’t blame you for having trouble keeping up.

Unless their horns are tiny like Tōshin’s, it’s not that hard to identify who’s a Stone Person.

Hornless on the other hand, are a bit trickier to identify. Depending on their generation, the most you could do is strike them with an average weapon and see if it cuts their skin or not; that’s usually a good indicator that they’re Hornless. And that’s assuming if their genetics aren’t too human.

Based on Tamashiro’s actions so far, it seems Yomi wants to use Stone People, and Hornless for both. It’s like he’s trying to divide & conquer the Ordinary People of Hiwatsu.

Eventually blood gets thinned until there's no more physical traits, but having a recorded ancestry still has meaning.

So far that rule more or less applies to Hornless. For whatever reason Stone People can’t have children with other Stone People, they can only marry & breed with Humans, and Hornless. Not sure what affect Hornless dna will have on children conceived with a Stone Person.

I’d imagine Stone People would likely be interested in Family Trees to prove their blood ties to Royal Families, and possibly use that for some sort of leverage.

Tamashiro might not have blood ties with the Waku Family. Instead she could possibly be a descendant of the Fusō Royal Family.

Historical records help them identify, and track the locations of Kamukata, or imprisoned Stone People.

If you ever have the time, and that is entirely up to you, would like to see a guide of some sorts. I love these kinds of stories but I struggle to keep up with names

If it’s just the Waku Family, I don’t mind doing a crash course guide.

Kaji Waku: He was the guy that maintained order in Fumine, and kept both factions in check. The main victim of our murder mystery.
Nazuna claimed he covered up corruption in Fumine. Tamashiro had Tōshin assassinate him. He was entrusted with a piece of the key to the archives, but it was stolen. His key appeared to have been stolen by a third party. Tamashiro is still looking for it.

Sanza Waku: She’s the current Domain Lord of Fumine Domain, and the Matriarch to the Waku Family. Her daughter (Tamashiro), and granddaughter (Mayu) were chosen as candidates to succeed her position as Domain Lord.

Tsumugi Waku: Sanza’s Eldest Daughter, not much is known about her yet.

2nd Son’s Faction/King’s Younger Brother Faction Members:

Itoyori Waku: He's the leader of the King’s Younger Brother Faction. He’s also Sanza’s 2nd Son. He’s backing his sister, Tamashiro, as a candidate for Domain Lord. His faction supports Tōgi, and Mizuho+Enami.
Like Kaji, he was also entrusted with a piece of the key to the Waku family archives, but it was stolen during the fire. He recently survived a fire, and “an assassination attempt”. He’s accusing the Prince’s Faction as being the ones behind the attack & burglary at his mansion.

Tamashiro Waku: Sanza’s Daughter, and she’s a candidate for Domain Lord, backed by her brother, Itoyori. She acts as an intermediary between both families factions (Kind of like Kaji did before her).
She’s actually a Hornless, was born as a Stone Person. She’s also the mastermind behind Kaji’s assassination, 2 of the 3 burglaries, and the murders & fire at Itoyori’s mansion. She currently holds 2 keys to the Waku Family archives (Yuuki & Itoyori’s keys). She intends to use Isaza’s team to find the final key (Kaji’s Key).

Eldest Son’s Faction/Prince’s Faction Members

Yuuki Waku: He’s the leader of the Prince’s Faction, and Sanza’s Eldest Son. He’s backing his daughter, Mayu, as a candidate for Domain Lord. His faction supports the Capital, and Maaya the Crown Empress.
He rightfully accused his sister, Tamashiro, for murdering Kaji. Like Kaji, he was also entrusted with a piece of the key to the Waku Family archives, but it was stolen by hired bandits. He used bandits to steal, and reroute shipments meant for the 2nd Son’s Faction; this also caused a lot of trouble for Fumine’s merchants and citizens. There are rumors that Yuuki wants to start a civil war.

Mayu Waku: She’s Yuuki’s daughter, and Sanza’s granddaughter. Her father supports her as a candidate for Domain Lord. She secretly admires Ushio Watatsumi. Has a sisterly bond with Nazuna.
She didn’t like the fact her father used bandits to antagonize the 2nd Son’s faction, and Fumine’s citizens.

I hope this crash course guide was helpful.
