Dear god. In one fell swoop, she has become more vile than just about every villainess in any of these mangas...

Combined.

Jesus Christ, talk about jumping off the slippery slope. I dearly hope this blows up in her face big time, and she doesn't just Mary Sue her way past any of the obvious issues like so many of these villainesses do. If what she just did isn't destroyed utterly, and soon, she will have done infinitely more damage to this world than the original villainess ever could have in a thousand lifetimes, and for much worse reasons.

Christ, at least those Isekai protagonists that engage in slavery are just being part of the problem. She's gone out of her way to find whole new frontiers of despicable evil. I dearly hope that this plan of hers becomes an albatross around her neck.
You're mad because she's using capitalism??

I love it lol. I wonder how this works with other countries, like could you just cross the border and get away from the patent magic?

Although the patent system has many flaws, I must point out that she did not patent the knowledge of the formula itself, but its application. It seems that people only have to pay when they use her method to cast magic, so the only ones being exploited are the mages, who appear to be the nobility in this setting.

Patenting magic, and by extension patenting math. In just one chapter this world has turned from a somewhat standard nobility-centric isekai to a waking nightmare, god damn.
That's why you have to get rid of the Nobility before Capitalism really gets going otherwise stuff like this happens. I'm telling you man, Isekai obsession with Nobility is really creepy, far too comfortable with a rigid hierarchical society, there is a reason western societies mostly got rid of the Nobles as soon as it was feasible, those people were bad for the health of humanity.

It's hard to argue with your assessment. At least a couple of the isekai light novels I've read acknowledge just how fucked up it is. One of them
"I Favor The Villainess"
even ended with a revolution overthrowing the nobility, and that was entertaining.

Oh, I've been reading the manga adaptation, so that's where it's going, interesting. No matter, I don't mind spoilers, I'm sure it's going to be interesting ride.

I'm not sure how long can you realistically hold that patent. There would be too much pressure just by banning some houses from using it (a desition Debora already made) and if it's used for war (and magic seems to be a tool of war in this world) the royal house would take it by force, probably resulting in civil war. That's just number one of a thousand things wrong with that move.
Taking it by force would basically mean they don’t honor the patent system and turn almost everyone against them

I'm not super mad that she's using advanced capitalist tactics because someone would've eventually since there is already a capitalist system in their world but damn, manhwa is supposed to be escapism why have I been continually reminded that I'm bad at math and poor?
