Well we see in this very chapter that her ex has been changing. Quitting his old part-time job that, ostensibly, wasn't paying enough (because he was so focused on "becoming a writer"), thus forcing Nonoka to pick up the slack financially (since she has a stable career). He's quit that, gotten a more stable job, and is still pursuing his dream of being a writer but in a more balanced fashion where he prioritizes taking care of immediate needs and shifting his dream more long-term (and even then, he's made it on the radio—which indicates that he's progressing even with his dream, seemingly after finding ways to better apply himself/learn and grow in that craft). Plus, he broke up with the AP after she turned all selfish, which shows that he also has discovered what he truly wants.

But more than that, I'd argue that it's not even the case that she's getting a pass while Hiromi gets burned, because even though she's "also" going back to an ex, she's also realized something about herself and what she truly wants/needs, which does put her ahead of Hiromi, who still doesn't really know why his relationships keep failing. Nonoka has effectively moved to her end-state, storytelling-wise, while Hiromi's still in the middle of his journey. The actual events are less important than their relative positions in their lives as they relate to their goals (and the same is paralleled in their respective character arcs within the overall plot).
I agree that it looks like Nonoka is going backward, but she kinda isn't when you take all of that into account. Her situation is presented as quite different from Hiromi's, even if some of the circumstances might seem similar.

Now I absolutely could be wrong; but I would not be surprised if Nonoka is just gone from the narrative, outside of some superficial meeting-in-passing near the end of the series where we get a "this is where other characters are now" type vignette. And, I think Nonoka's served her purpose of "breaking Hiromi down entirely to the point where he can hopefully start actually assessing himself and his life". I don't think she needs to re-enter as another "ex returning to try again", especially as we already got that in one ex (who might even return a third time with a pregnancy surprise, as some other readers have posited).
This is probably the most charitable interpretation of each character outside of Hiromi. I would argue that you are tending to overcorrect for others who tend to think that Hiromi has done no wrong, when he has certainly messed up.

Your argument that Nonoka has realized something about herself seems hollow mostly because the author has made it hollow. Her decision to leave the relationship was a spur of the moment, seemingly stupid conclusion. It could be that she "truly" knows what she wants now, and is ahead of Hiromi in that regard. But I could just as easily say that she has not taken the time to process her own feelings and is acting on a whim, going with what she "thinks" her heart wants. Hiromi has done that multiple times, so Nonoka can be doing it as well.

We were not given enough evidence that this relationship would not pan out: you are essentially doing the author's job for her. There are plenty of people who have certain desires that are not immediately met by their partners, but still make a relationship work: especially by talking to each other. You make it seem as though the lack of dialogue was entirely Hiromi's fault, when Nonoka could have made her feelings known. Rather than pulling out with a phone call, she could have sat him down and had that honest talk. If Hiromi had been the one to end the relationship (or it would have been mutual), realizing he couldn't be the one to make her happy, that would have made more sense than this melodramatic nonsense. I understand what the author is trying to get across with the story, but I don't blame readers for feeling as though Nonoka's decision was made with the idea of incensing them rather than trying to tell a cohesive narrative

Oh man! Sasuga Kei does it again! Maybe I am used to her storytelling style, but this was interesting. I mean we all saw it coming. She sucks. She really sucks. I hope things don't work out for her, but I am actually really excited to see the fallout and how Hiromi recovers.

Hiromi recovers.
Maybe he won't fully recover 'till the series last 3 chapters (semimonthly series have a different final countdown from weekly ones). Thing is... will his wants/needs/ develop into solerhing similar to Yukari's? Or is Lili gonna realize she wants the same as Hiromi?

That will be the dilemma.

holy sh!t Hiromi got the Ted Mosby special
josh-radnor-as-ted-in-how-i-met-your-mother-season-4-episode-5.jpg

I forgot to mention because I preferred to sh!t on Sasuga ... again, f*ck that lady, I still think she has some good ideas but doesn't know how to make a compelling story in the long run, probably a short series would do wonders for her... or go the artist route and let another author do the heavy work.

also those eyes right at the end... he doesn't even look sad, it's like tired eyes, holy darkness comes next chapter

This author crashes ships like Launchpad McQuack crashes planes. Every one of her stories are littered with craters, it's great. I don't even read the manga anymore, I just follow them exclusively to read the comments and see how mad people are.
you're a sadist man, but I kinda understand how someone could enjoy this rage on the comments... wait, are you Sasuga Kei, you F*CK!!!:lol: (joking obviously)
I haven't read this since he tried to get back with the ex who cheated on him and the author put a Deus ex machina to make him realize what a bad idea it was.

I can see the writing is still as bad.
Kei sure loves portraying women as terrible unreliable creatures for a woman eh?
also no accountability, author really likes that part too

There are less absurd ways to make a character leave the story Kei.
I mean last time involved a car and years of coma hahaha

Bro this is wild. Why would she do this after making him spend all this money, weak willed lady bro. He was literally ready to go in 100%.
Sadly this is 100% realistic. She even hinted at it when she felt like she didn’t need to look after him the same way she did with her ex. “He doesn’t need me” triggering her maternal caregiver instincts.

bro looks like he's gonna jump, and not from happiness i could tell you that much
Actually, he doesn't look surprised.
It's his third heartbreak in recent months. I think he might just try to put off romance for a bit, but he's hiromi, his goal in life is a family so that might break him.

With Sasuga Kei, you KNOW the BS drama is coming.
The real question is how fucking much will it hurt the MC's soul?

Till he comes to terms the sharehouse girls became his unconventional family and that he doesn't need a tradwife, but an actual partner who chooses to be by his side because she wants to.

You know what, if he decided to remain single for the rest of his life, I would not blame him at all...

Even if he ends single, he'll end in a harem (with obviously one who will be the symbolical partner) if Sasuga chooses the "sharehouse family" end.
