@Dioss In the absolute sense yes, but I do think you need to mention the scale and amount of things when mentioning "blackmail", without people imagining the worst.
Considering what is at stake and what he is making her do, I would say it's on the very low part of the "blackmail impact" scale.
He also helped her and she kinda knows it, that is why she goes along with it without too much fuss.

The author has a stupid way of saying things "order", its more like teasing and playful requests but the author made the girl super dense

And her memories werent bad I guess she doesnt want to see him is cause she prob fell in love with him but he felt that she didnt so didnt pursue her or some shit like that

@ChiiKitsune sometimes I wish stories like these aren't caused by simple misunderstandings (if this story would take that trope, which is very likely it seems).

Give me a male lead that was straight up an a-hole in the past but is now trying to fix things (or still an a-hole) and a matured, composed female lead that won't take any of his sh*ts. Ahh imagine the angst *wipes drool

@Efu I dont think I'd really like the ml if he was like that. I imagine everyone would ship her with the second ml rather that the a-hole ml. The abandoned Empress has a ml who has been an a-hole and well, when I realised he was the ml I couldn't read anymore. Imo, our mc deserved better.

So I'm guessing that somehow the relationship with her friend was ruined. MC thinks it was because ML betrayed her but maybe it wasn't him? And she changed schools so the misunderstanding was never cleared.

For one, the ml isn't an a-hole, he's straight up a

, and since it's an isekai story, he's no idea of what he did in the past therefore can't repent his mistakes (also doesn't fit the bad guy turn good trope I was hoping for, he only changed cuz FML changed the story).

I'd say the closest story that fits my plot in mind is this webtoon's https://mangadex.org/title/47165/when-you-re-targeted-by-the-bully original otome game, childhood friend route, if you haven't played it already. since the webtoon is very likely to take MML's route which is also close to my plot in mind.

But IMHO the childhood friend route was better cause there was a gap where they

I recommend playing the otoge too for full experience with the other 3 or 4 protags. Imo they're very enjoyable as their own characters, too bad they only serve as extras/obstacles for the main couple in the webtoon.

That reminds me, this series (https://mangadex.org/title/24431/liar) is actually 90% close to the plot I was talking about before.

Although it's getting a lot of (arguably) undeserved hate from the readers here, mainly caused by what Mai_loves_icecream has said. I think there's more story as to why the ML's doing what he's doing, since we've yet to see another pov from him, so no hate from me yet.
Plus it's got a lot of what I want from a romance story, and the angst. Ohh the f*cking angst. I LOVE IT LMAOOOO

@Efu First of all, I didn't write my comment to throw hate on the ml. In fact it was the opposite. I like it that the ml has a misunderstanding to justify his actions because I don't have to hate the ml then. In fact I like him a lot because he's actively trying to fix their relationship instead of just letting the plot conveniences(aka coincidences) do the work. Kind of hard to find an ml that's not too pushy but still not a pushover.

And I know abandoned empress wasn't exactly the same but if you're alright with novels then "I dont want to be loved" should be perfect for what you described. It's an isekai like abandoned empress except the ml

remembers his past life, which is why he's trying to gain the mc's trust, and he didn't actually murder the mc

But then again I still don't like that trope, exactly because he's such a jerk and I just don't have it in me to forgive someone like that and that's why I couldn't complete AE story but if you want a ml that is trying to make up for his mistakes then that's for you. I like this one the way it is. Lastly, thanks for the recommendation. I will read it once it has enough chapters. (Don't play otoge games but it seems interesting enough so I might play it)
