I find this manga really interesting... As a sort of study in how young men can sort of grow and become aware of the way women have to go about life after an SA... I don't think I can articulate what I mean well (English is my second language...) but... I went through an SA last may and then went to a support therapy group and it brought a lot of things in perspective, on how boys and girls are raised in very different ways and it's easy to forget... I feel like the the main character was literally exposed to a wider world when he found out Nina was kidnapped... And the whole manga is about his reconciling with his guilt, his romantic feelings, his frustrations... It's clumsy in some places, and I do think that the main perpetrator... Didn't get a good enough change for me. Maybe Nina isn't afraid of him anymore but he did rape that Office lady. I think the author took a wrong turn in telling this story by making him 'just another guy'. The thing is that he chose to act on his impulses, and never faced repercussions. It's unsatisfying to see him be part of the 'flash forward', when he had no actual growth... Or we just didn't get to see it. I wish, for all the chaos in the main characters head when he was writing a letter to Nina, I wish that struggle was in the rapists head...
I love this author, most of her works I find they explore interesting topics or dynamics, and I still think this was worth reading, but I'm frustrated by that part of the ending. I enjoy that it left on an open note, where the main character asks Nina basically consent to be in her life again... He respects her. I find it ties the bow well with their arc. I'll rate it 7/10, but it could've been a 9 if the fate of the rapists was better handled.
