Apparently people are connecting it with the nsfw version my guy, which I didnt see the author say explicitly, which I think is why people are saying she deserved it and that's bullshit, but going into your original arguement, how would you think it would've been better played out?
Well, for starters, bro needs a better apology. You don't get to abuse someone for months and then just go, "Lol, sorry about that. Friends?"

Like I said earlier, a man should at least be held to his own standards. If a simple apology isn't good enough for her to earn forgiveness, then it shouldn't be for him either.

He needs to acknowledge exactly what he did wrong, and exactly why it was wrong. Ideally, he should also insist that she shouldn't forgive him so easily just because she feels guilty about what she did to him. He should point out that two wrongs don't cancel each other out, and that they both have to work on themselves. Then he needs to hold himself accountable for his actions, since she clearly isn't going to.

There's only two ways I can see for this story to end in a believable way: Either they work together so that they can forgive each other; or if that's impossible, they cut ties and go their separate ways. Any other ending would be implausible.

Honestly, I figured (and was hoping) that the girl was gonna win the MC over, and he'd just quietly give up on his revenge plans. But the fact that he took it this far, and now the author's trying to pull it back around is just nonsensical.

MC crossed a point of no return. The cat's out of the bag. The genie left the bottle. The milk is spilled. The author can't just go back and pretend like nothing happened.

His other, "Covered in Bruises," manga was better. It never tried to sweep the abuse under the rug.

Though I suppose this one's not quite finished yet, so I'll have to wait and see how it concludes. I just wish I could say I was more optimistic about it.

Your genuinely raise good points, although the main problem here are you're raising too much standards.

We're not talking about a man that could rationally think nor even set a standard on what's morally and ethically right or not.

This was a teen, who in the past, mind you, literally thought ending themselves was the best course of action to enact revenge on the one person they hated because they knew their plans were falling apart.

Let the guy grow for now. He ain't right but his mind is in the right direction(?)
