Thinking about this a little more, this curse doesn't really make any sense. The God of Jealousy wants to get in the way of couples forming, so I get that they'd make one party die if they get confessed to, but why then give the consumer the ability to read the mind of the other person and put a time limit on the curse? That would let them know the other person likes them, which would both give them the opportunity to avoid dying, but they also have a really good chance of getting together with that person as soon as they graduate. So I feel like this would actually generally increase the likelihood of a couple forming.

You know someone loves you, but you’re too afraid to die, so you sabotage every chance they have.
That person starts thinking you’ve been avoiding them—that you don’t feel the same way.
And on the off chance you survive until graduation, either they’ve already moved on, or they no longer trust you because you kept avoiding them.
All the while, you can hear their pain… and maybe even the way their feelings gradually change if they moved on.
