I'm pretty sure planets are stars in the context of celestial bodies.
It's just English doesn't really have a word for it.
In BR Portuguese, for example, you get "Astro" (as in astral/celestial body), and "Estrela" (proper stars like the sun), and I believe at least Japanese and Chinese have something similar.
