He was a lucky dude; if he'd messed up she would have fed him to her plants.

@balenol

You mean please do the needful.

Do note that this is a real scam. It's usually called the "it's me" scam, as in someone calls in, cold calling hoping that the recipient tries to "guess" who it is (and they usually rely on old people since they might have worse memory or hearing). Scammers you hear on youtube scam channels from India don't do this (because c'mon, how many non-Indians have children with Indian accents?), they just pretend to be tech support.

Uh...why did he turn himself in? I don't get it.
That's the basic action to do if you feel there is scam call.
1. Take a note of Bank Account
2. Record the call, current smartphone has recorder now. And buying phone with recorder is the best bet
3. There, call police and send the recorded call and bank account number.

@TrueGoddessReincarnation or just piss them off by talking in your native tongue if they're talking English to them. I swear quite a few microsoft scammers must think I'm insane at this point. Not that they're wrong, but that's a completely different reason.

Those of you who think he turned himself in just because she gave him sincere parting words are ignoring that he had already outed his intent to commit a crime (hence the recording of his number and voice) and his bank account number. He must've been stupid enough to personally open that account, because having a decoy open one in your stead would've been easy to cut loose if compromised.

At that point, turning himself in was the only viable move left, to lessen the inevitable charges. If he tries to make a run for it and fails, kiss any plea deal goodbye.
