I have absolutely no idea what’s happening in this story now. 🙈

I definitely hate this new prince. What the hell gave him the right to erase her memories?! If your worried about her safety then protect her! Abandoning her does absolutely nothing to protect her?! 🤦🏼‍♀️ She still lost absolutely everything and is traumatized. So clearly your plan was so helpful prince. *sarcasm*

Add him to the list of characters in this story that are just awful and the author clearly is gonna “redeem”. 🤮

Looks like I’ll be dropping this story. I don’t trust the author to give a satisfying payback or really anything at all. Good luck to everyone else who continues reading this.

Thank you for translating these three new chapters.

Erasing someone's memories is one of the most evil thing I can think of. Memories are perhaps the most central component that makes someone who they are.

What a piece of utter garbage. And what kind of adult goes along with a small child's whims like that when they ought to know better? Like even if he's a prince, if he ordered a town burned to the ground cause they didn't have the sweets he wanted, would they do that too?

I don't care what kind of sob story they give him later, that's not something to forgive.

It 100% depends on the reasoning for erasing the memories. if its for manipulation, yea, that's about as bad as you can go, but this case, it seems like it was more a judgement call after realizing yours and whoever you loves life will be in constant danger. Is it the right call to make... probably not but I also can't fault the decision at all either.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. The only situation where I can see it being ethical is if the person themselves asked to have their memories erased. No one else has the right to make those decisions, for any reason. As Descartes said, "I think, therefore I am," it is the very essence of who people are.

If their reasoning was so correct, then there's no reason why they couldn't expect to convince the person to agree to it, rather than doing it without their consent.

You wouldn't be able to conceive the other party, all you would be doing is hurting them and having an easy way to. Its not like he erased memories to manipulate her, definitely not a great reason but I do understand it and would probably make the same one giving the age and circumstances.

Ethical problems aside, erasing her memory contributes absolutely nothing to protecting her unless the culprits themselves witness it happens. Is the perpetrator (who dared to poison the crown prince) supposed to be so understanding like "I heard that my target is memory wiped, understandable have a great day" and just ignore her from that point? If anything the erasing memory makes a known threat become unknown (to her), which can put her in even more danger. Not only is it not right, it's also stupid as hell.

@knightdtd I don't think it was explained as well as it should have been, but it was the possibility of her getting hurt in the future that he was afraid of. He wasn't poisoned because of her and the poisoner doesn't care about Elaine. However, if they get married then[/i ]she will become a potential target. Since it was an engagement that was basically annulled as soon as it was made(and Elaine wouldn't have gotten the news that he canceled it yet, hence her initial reaction when he came to wipe her memories) then very few people would even know they were once engaged and thus the entire affair could be kept hidden. Far as anyone is aware he simply frequented her home and that's it, assuming they were even aware of that.

He was protecting her from the future threats that she would face if they married rather than the current threat he himself just went through.

The MC having isekai background contributes nothing to the story because she doesn't even know the plot, which is a good change for once.

Tampering with her childhood memories probably awakened her memories of a previous life.

So... the reason this is an isekai... is Wilfred's fault.

@Svelandria When I read the part "And then...around the time we started discussing engagement dates...I was poisoned by someone" I assumed there was a correlation between the 2 events. If they were completely unrelated then that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clarifying, I really made a fool out of myself.

@knightdtd You're fine. It is worded in a very vague way so it's no surprise someone could make such an assumption. With that said, in hindsight(after I read it once more) I realize there is still the possibility that you are actually correct and his poisoning was indeed related to their engagement, but there is little to no evidence that they are related and thus I'm 97% positive they aren't related whatsoever. Problem is that unless someone who has read the novel comes and sheds light on this matter, or unless the author brings it up in a future manga chapter, then being 100% sure is impossible right now.
