This is also more refreshing and inspiring to me than most romance manga these days.
Girl with oppressive parent -> instead of cliche of parent accepting that they should change their behavior, the parent stays the same but the girl becomes a transforming hero to relieve stress and ace her studies.
Boy who loves to play card games -> instead of being a bland protagonist who only thinks about what's fun for him, he's actually despairing at his own poverty and inability to care his siblings, and the card game is what's giving him the hope to keep living.
Instead of the "idol" theme being a throwaway, she actually IS an idol for her friend, capturing his heart in a non-romantic sense and filling him with vital energy.
Also, the fact that this card game legitimately has an AR-style tournament just like Yugioh intrigues me.
Can't say I don't love the art too (avatar related). Unironically this would make an awesome serialization if the core themes weren't compromised and the setting was fleshed out more.
