MC was testing his new skills, you can see that he didn't use any old skill at all.

Suiboku only taught him skills now. In the 500 years training MC gained skills mostly by imitating Suiboku and learning from nature.

That is how he get his strongest skills: a wide awareness and being able to make perfect movements right away without needing to think about it. ( kinda like ultra instict )
