Suiboku only taught him skills now. In the 500 years training MC gained skills mostly by imitating Suiboku and learning from nature.

That is how he get his strongest skills: a wide awareness and being able to make perfect movements right away without needing to think about it. ( kinda like ultra instict )

The job this time is to put on a show, not to simply dominate as fast as possible like before.

Yeah, I'm assuming the princess is trying to show that the country's tradition of relying only on divine possession is actually a weakness (and not necessarily that divine possession itself sucks). So it makes sense to me that they'd want to have Saiga showcase how he fares better by using divine possession combined with other skills.
