I took a peek at the raws.

This is pretty close to what happens. But MC's argument to the princess is that she has nothing to fear from fighting. Dragonification and fighting won't make her a monster, as there are plenty of people already more powerful than her. Unfortunately the author takes 10 chapters to get through all this, not 1.
