Considering the situation of their society, the only purpose of marriage that I can think of is to produce a legitimate heir. I doubt that by her next birthday she can have children without a high risk of complications. Sounds suspiciously like he wants her as soon as she can breed.😶

There is no way in hell a society that treats half of its populace like that could rise to power, the thought that such a majority of men like that would accept and act like that is more than a little stupid.
