The big deal is it kinda kills off engagement in a series. Mangadex is popular because you can find pretty much everything here, and most importantly it's easy to find and keep track of. It's like Netflix, back in the early days. You could find everything you wanted, it was all easy to keep track of, etc. Same benefits apply to mangadexMaybe im ignorant but I dont see the big deal in hosting content you make on your website?
They release it in batches which is weird sure and left this series for like 2 months but I dont pay them anything besides the ads I view on the website.
I am greatful for 2 translations most of the series I like get forgotten about and abandoned. I also get to re read the chapter thanks to another uploader which is dope. I am literally owned nothing for either translations.
If you are worried about the other translation go hype them up! Let them know they are appreciated.
I guess I just dont understand what is the problem here. If someone could explain it to me I would be greatful 🙏
Yeah, busy with school and TLing 14 series xD Then maybe don't pick up another 5 or 6 titles, if you can't keep up with current ones. That does make sense but I would take what the guy said at face value that they were busy with school. I also remember them saying they forget to upload to mangadex.
Idk I just think people are being a little harsh.
Thank you for the in depth explanation! Very enlightening! The problem is that this community have some unwritten rules, one of which is that people won't work on title, that is currently being worked on.
And some groups know that very well and abuse it. How so?
By either holding newest chapters behind pay-wall and only releasing stuff (or rather dumping it), if someone else picks a given title after a long period of stale;
OR picks overwhelming number of titles, so they can reach broader audience and grab more money, but they aren't capable of keeping all of them updated, basically holding many series "a hostage", while there are people, who are willing to work on this "hostage" titles, but they don't want to break this unwritten rule, that this community has.
And I hope I don't have to say, that ANY of such groups don't have ANY rights for ANY of those series. Meanwhile they behave, like it's their property.
Of course, if you don't give a shit about "sniping", then my whole argument won't make any sense to you ¯\(ツ)/¯
Also good points! Thank you for the explanations! The big deal is it kinda kills off engagement in a series. You get a bunch of groups that just have to take a bigger slice of the pie though, you get Netflix now. Which of these 37 different services with a shit ui do I have to scroll through to try and find what I want to watch, I can't keep track of anything because my library is in 63 different spots, and oh look, I get to choose between having a banner ad take up half my page, of having the site ui completely break because the shit script they use for hosting the actual content breaks when it sees an ad blocker. Too much inconvenience all piled up on the same time means nobody wants to bother. This series used to hit course to the top of hot on r/manga when it was getting regular updates, now discussion is effectively dead because nobody wants to jump through hoops
And this is all before you get to the minor deal of people trying to force profit by monetizing other peoples art. Scanlation is inherently sketchy, but going the GDS route of sitting on series just so you can milk advertising revenue off of someone else's story while doing nothing to actually promote the success of the story is just... Icky
Don't be sad, I am not going to stop <3I guess the saddest thing about the situation is that if the other TL is deterred from and stops releasing their own chapters, Platinum Crown will probably go straight back to their usual 'hold chapters hostage on their website' until another TL tries to (rightfully) snipe
Using school and work as an excuse to "forget" to upload chapters on MD when they have them on patreon behind a paywall doesn't fly my guy. Even so when they are using the adsense sob story to ask for more donations or else they will stop translating mangas. Fuck them sincerely. That does make sense but I would take what the guy said at face value that they were busy with school. I also remember them saying they forget to upload to mangadex.
Idk I just think people are being a little harsh.
Please continue, don't let them bully you into stopping.Don't be sad, I am not going to stop <3

Hero we needed, but we don't deserve <3Don't be sad, I am not going to stop <3
Some of us have been in this scene for a long time. We've heard all the lines before, and unfortunately, our good will has pretty much dried up. It's an unfortunate consequence of becoming jaded because of scummy practices.Idk I just think people are being a little harsh.
I'm really glad to hear that. Your effort is very much appreciated, keep up the good work <3Don't be sad, I am not going to stop <3
Based beyond belief.Don't be sad, I am not going to stop <3

Its incredibly hard to enforce and manage a rule against thos type of behaviour.I still can't believe that Mangadex doesn't have any rules against bullshit like this :x
I'm going to be dead honest, I don't care about reading on PCS site. I'm happy to turn off adblocker to give TLs some google bux, especially for unique series like this one.I guess the saddest thing about the situation is that if the other TL is deterred from and stops releasing their own chapters, Platinum Crown will probably go straight back to their usual 'hold chapters hostage on their website' until another TL tries to (rightfully) snipe
TBCF that adsense thing has been on their SL's for months not just this latest dump.PAK scans picked up the series after Platinum let it die on mangadex in favor of privately hosting on their previously ad-fucked site. The batch upload was chapters that have been up there for weeks/months now, the batch upload was only made to advertise that they lost AdSense on their site and whore for donations.
